Communication:
If at any time you have concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to e-mail, send a note with your child, or call. Mr. Purcell sends out weekly email newsletters, but I also have a class blog available at: http://mrsschneiders23class.blogspot.com where I will post updates, upcoming events, and other important information. If you do not have internet access, please let me know and I will make sure to send a paper copy home with your child.

Valentine’s Day
We will have a small Valentine’s Day party on Monday, February 14th. Please find a list of all the students in our class. Each student is invited to bring Valentines in for their classmates, but it is optional. If you send Valentines in with your student, please make sure there is one for each student in the class; we don’t want any hurt feelings. If your child would like to send Valentine’s to Mrs. Bortnem’s class as well, we will provide an opportunity to deliver those before our Valentine’s Day party. A listof students from her class is also attached.
There is also an assembly on Valentine’s Day as selected by our student council; “Magic in You.” That is set for 1:50 pm. We have music from 1:15-1:45, so we may need to be a bit creative for our Valentine’s Day Party.
Birthdays – February 2011
We have 3 birthdays to celebrate this month and will celebrate on Friday, February 4th at 12:40. Alec Espig will be celebrating his birthday on February 2nd, Skylar Hansen will celebrate her birthday on February 9th, and I am also celebrating a birthday on February 1st. (The kids love to know this type of information so I thought I would share) Happy Birthday, Alec & Skylar!
New Units of Study – We will be finishing up with our States of Matter studies in January and moving into a new social studies/geography unit about Landforms. We will be building and experimenting with how these landforms impact different areas of land and the weather.
Conferences
February 10th and 17th are scheduled as conference days at Ewing Young. Report cards will come home on February 3rd with a notice as to when and if your child needs a conference. Conferences can be scheduled through the office with Mrs. Waalkes. Our calendar does not build in our regular spring conferences, so we are working with limited timeframes.
Sharing Schedule: For February 2011
Wednesday & Friday of every week will be a sharing day. Please keep the schedule below as a reminder of when your child’s sharing day is. If there is no school on a Friday, please have your sharing at school on the Monday of your sharing week.
